Consultation Call

After you make initial contact, we will schedule a brief 15-20 minute consultation call, during which time you can tell me more about your reasons for seeking therapy and ask any questions you may have about my services, including questions about insurance, fees, and sliding scale. If we decide that I seem like the right fit for your needs, we will proceed with scheduling the first therapy session. Prior to the first session, you will receive a link to fill out an online intake questionnaire and consent forms to be electronically signed.

Sessions

I see patients both in-person and also virtually on a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. Individual therapy sessions are 45-minutes. Couples therapy sessions are 1 hour.

Cancellation Policy

When cancelling or rescheduling sessions, please provide at least 24 hours notice. If you request to reschedule less than 24 hours from the scheduled session, I will make every effort to find an alternative time within the same week. If we are unable to do so, the session will be charged in full.

Low Fee Psychotherapy for Actors, Artists, and Creatives

As a former actor, I understand the financial hardships associated with a career in the arts. Many artists experience stress, anxiety, and depression due to frequent unemployment, financial uncertainty, and the intense competition for work. I offer therapy at a reduced rate for actors, writers, performers, artists, and creatives who are not able to afford my full fee. If you think you think you may qualify, please feel free to reach out to schedule a free consultation.

FEES and insurance

My fee is $275 per session for individuals and $350 per session for couples. However, I may be able to offer a sliding scale rate based on income and financial need, depending on the availability of my reduced rate spots. We can discuss these financial details during our initial consultation call. Most insurance plans have some kind of out-of-network coverage, which means that you may be able to receive substantial reimbursement for sessions that you pay for out of pocket. I highly encourage you to call your insurance company to inquire about your out-of-network benefits. If you do indeed have these benefits, I will provide you with a monthly "superbill", which is essentially an insurance-friendly invoice, that you can submit for reimbursement.

Here are some questions I'd recommend asking your insurance when you call them:

  • Do I have out-of-network coverage for outpatient psychotherapy (45 minute individual sessions, CPT code 90834; 60 minute family/couples psychotherapy, CPT code 90847)?

  • I would like to see a licensed clinical psychologist who does not accept insurance. His name is Dr. Alex Seife and his NPI number is 1770201451. What is the percentage/dollar amount I can expect to be reimbursed per session?

  • Do I have a deductible I must first meet? If so, how much is it? How much of it have I already met?

  • Is there a cap on the number of visits per year?

  • How do I submit claims? How much time do I have after a visit to submit my claim?
